When I was in middle school there was a girl a few years older than me, in high school and actor in many high school plays. I found her extraordinary partly due to a shock of white hair growing fast in the middle of her hairline. There was something so adult about that hair of hers. It was extravagant. It was stylish (at least to my youthful understanding of things). Best of all she didn’t bother to dye it. It’s kinda like Elsa Lanchester’s ribbon of white hair in her shocked black beehive (Bride of Frankenstein). What produces such follicular fireworks? Lightning? Fright? Experience? Chance?
